REIKI

Picture
Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a system of natural healing that uses Universal Life Energy (a specific frequency of energy that exists everywhere). Reiki is a Japanese technique that means Universal Life Energy. It works by correcting the flow of energy through the body  working on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels of the body. This energy is generated by all forms of life. Every living form in the Universe is made of energy, slowed enough to become matter. Universal Life Energy is the essence that gives all things life.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words. One, Rei, means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power". The other one, Ki, means "life force energy". Reiki then is "spiritually guided life force energy." It is the unseen "life force energy" that flows through us and causes us to be alive. It does not depend on one's intellectual capacity or spiritual development, therefore it is available to anyone.

Reiki can be used in any situation. It can augment any standard medical or alternative course of therapy by encouraging and quickening the bodies own healing ability. It also helps to relieve side effects from standard medical treatments and promotes recovery. Reiki can help ease pain and discomfort, help find clarity in mental processes, can add calm to emotional situations, and can be used as an effective stress management tool. It functions to empower the individual's own healing abilities. If one's "life force energy" is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to be stressed or get sick.

Reiki is a simple technique to learn. The ability to use Reiki is not taught in a usual manner. This ability is passed on to a student during a class in which an "attunement" is given to the student by a Reiki master/teacher. It allows the student to tap into an unlimited supply of "life force energy" to improve one's health and enhance their quality of life. An "attunement" clears and balances the chakras (energy centers in the body) and allows "life force energy" to flow freely. It helps to awaken the "life force energy" in us and leads to greater path of enlightenment.

Description of a Typical Session

Picture
A session is typically 60-90 minutes long. Christy will discuss at the initial session a description of the session and give you an opportunity to discuss any particular problems or issues you are experiencing and ask you what you are hoping to achieve from your session.

For the actual session, you will rest comfortably on a message table on your back with your shoes removed or it can be done in a chair as well. Unlike massage therapy, no articles of clothing are removed and a client is always fully clothed. Its encouraged that you wear loose comfortable clothing.

A session can either be hands-on, where a light touch is applied during the session, or hands-off where she will hold her hands slightly above your body. If a client prefers not to be touched you can indicate this to Christy before she begins.

The session will proceed with Christy moving through specific standard Reiki hand positions beginning at the person's head or feet. A recipient of Reiki might feel a warming sensation or a tingling during the session or nothing at all but sheer relaxation. The session will be very pleasant, relaxing and invigorating.

What is Reiki Used to Treat

Reiki is a great tool for stress reduction and relaxation. Many people use Reiki for wellness. Reiki is not a cure for a disease or illness, but it may assist the body in creating an environment to facilitate healing. Reiki is a great tool to use as a complement to traditional medicine and is practiced in many hospitals and medical care settings.
Christy is a Reiki Master/Teacher, and a Karuna Ki Reiki Master/Teacher.
The 5 Principals of Reiki
Just for today, I will let go of anger.
Just for today, I will let go of worry.
Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will be kind to my neighbor and every living thing.
Please Note: Reiki is meant to be used as a complement to traditional care or as a personal relaxation or stress reducing tool. It is not a substitute for qualified medical or traditional care.
